Millers Landing - Wilsons Promontory

Wilsons Promontory National Park is a diverse wilderness area at the south-eastern tip of Australia, with fantastic walking tracks, magnificent views, unusual features and beautiful scenery. It's also a wonderful place to go for bush walks and take photographs - at any time of year.

How To Get There - The turnoff to Millers Landing at Wilsons Promontory, is a few kilometers from the Park Entrance gateway. Turn left on Five Mile Road and use the car park at the end of the track. Watch for wildlife feeding in the road side clearings and for opportunities to get a more intimate view of wallabies, kangaroos and emus as they wander freely in this natural bushland environment.

The photograph on the top of the page is the view to Corner Inlet across the sand bar from Millers Landing. You also have the option of seeing Vereker Outlook (a moderate walk of three kilometers each way) while you are at the Five Mile Road Car Parking Area. Other walks include the easy one kilometer Link Track or the two kilometer Millers Landing Nature Walk.

Millers Landing Nature Walk And Link Track - Millers Landing itself is a sheltered beach on the southern side of Corner Inlet. The mangroves and sand bars here provide a haven for migrating birds, unique aquatic plants and other wildlife.

Even humans could find food here, with stinging nettle (which makes a tasty soup or cup of tea) and New Zealand Spinach (also called Warrigal Greens) growing in abundance on the edges of the sand. To find out more, read the Discovering The Prom Guidebook.

The coastal banksia and stringbark woodlands found here are also home to many animals. We were surprised by a pair of emus walking on the track in front of us and the occasional kangaroo was heard hopping off into the distance.

Pictures - Included on this page are photographs of native Australian plants, animals, rock formations, water birds, mangroves, native shrubs and other flora.
